  1. Once upon a time there lived an old man with his wife near Bandon. He was a great miser and he stored up all his money. After a few years his gold was disappearing each night and he could not account for it. However he went to the detectives and told his story. The detectives made enquires but could find no clue to the missing money.
    One night as they were watching outside his house, they saw the miser coming out and going into a house not far from the dwelling house. He brought out a crock of gold and threw it into a well outside the house. It was then they found out, it was the miser himself that was doing away with the gold in his sleep.
