  1. Mrs morton was teaching in Balhuskey school, about thirty five years ago. She used drive her donkey and trap out and in every morning and evening and it was the parents of the children that used pay her for a long time. In those days there were no jotters. The children used use slate and anyone that would buy a slate would pay a penny for it. There were sockets in the desks to hold the slates when not in use, which are to be seen yet.
