  1. About sixty years ago there was a man by the name of Maurice Power teaching in Rossmacowen. There were seventy pupils attending there. Each pupil was paying a half-crown a quarter. They used come to school at the age of nine and leave again at the age of fourteen. Some of them used stay at home before they used be confirmed. They used come a half hour every day for Catechism The school subjects were: Catechism, English reading and writing and they used do sums on slates at school.
