- Fairs are the means by which farmers dispose of pigs and surplus cattle. They are held in the town each month. Our fairs are Dunmanway, Ballineen and Clonakilty fairs. Dunmanway cattle fair is held on the last Wednesday of each month and the pig fair on the previous day. Ballineen cattle fair is held on the second Wednesday of each month and the pig fair on the previous day. Clonakilty pig and cattle fairs are held on the first Monday of each month. Sometimes on the days preceding local fairs buyers call to farmers houses and if they have pigs or cattle for sale the buyers buy them.
