- There is a story told about a farmer, who lived in town land of Cappannashloga about a mile to the west of Bantry town. It is said that this man was ploughing a field in his farm, when his two horses were swallowed into a hole about nine feet deep but he was able to get them out again. When he got them out he continued his work and afterwards set crops in the field.
When the crops grew up and, when he began to give them to his cattle, one of his best cows used to drop dead in the yard every morning until the poor man was nearly broken. When the grass grew on the field and it became the same as before, all the distruction stopped and he grew up in means once more.- Bailitheoir
