    There are many Irish names on the fields in the district which I live. The names were given them in the years gone by when Ireland was an Irish speaking country and since then those names have been mispronounced.
    The following are names of some of the fields round where I live.

    means the wood beside the bog

    means a field beside the bog

    GORT FADA
    means the long field

    FIADAC MÓR
    means the hunting field

    GARRUIDHE GLAS
    means the garden green

    GARRUIDE THAIDG
    means Thadg's garden
