  1. There were men who in former days performed great feats of strength and activity. Some of these will scarcely be believed at present time.
    Strong Men. Tom Donohoe, Moneen, Kilrooskey, Roscommon was a very strong man. He was able to throw the half hundred weight 30 yards. Seamus Casserly, Gardenstown, Lanesboro, Co. Roscommon, was very strong. He was able to throw the half hundred 25 yards. Peter Nolan was able to carry 30 stone on his back
    Jimmy Carley, Anratabeg, Lanesboro, Co. Roscommon, amongst hundreds employed building the bridge of Lanesboro was the strongest. Heavy stones were carried in hand barrows. Jimmy always carried one end of the hand barrow against two men at the other end. Whenever a heavy stone had to be lifted the
