  1. Local Marriage Customs
    Marriages take place locally during Shrove. The part of the year which is called Shrove is from Saint Stephen’s day to Ash Wednesday. Most of the marriages take place on Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday.
    The month which is not lucky for marriage is May and the day which is not lucky for marriage is Friday. There were matches made in my district long ago, but there are not many matches made in my district now.
    The man that is going to get married takes with him another man and goes to the house of the girl, that, and if he agrees to marry that girl, the girl’s father has to give her what-ever money she wants. There
