  1. I am living in the Parish of Baslick .This name is handed down to us from the time of St.Patrick . When St.Patrick came to the hill of Oran which is on the way to Roscommon He looked towards Castleplunket and saw a hill where He said He would build a Basilica.
A Basilica is a certain kind of Church . The hill on which the Saint built the Basilica is beside the Church of Kilmurry where I go to Mass. This is how the Parish got its name. There are the ruins of an old. Church which is supposed to be the Basilica in Fernhall.
