    the fields. The people used to pull these herbs and mingle them with butter. This mixture was supposed to cure burns. Certain other people cured sore eyes, by pricking the eye with a small branch from a gossberry tree. While the would be pricking they would make the sign of the cross three times. This was supposed to cure the sore eye.
