  1. It is the belief of old people that there is a crock of gold hidden in a field under a rock on the farm belonging to Mrs. Hyland of Clough. Near this rock there was a deal tree planted to mark the spot. It is supposed to be guarded by a black dog. Old people say that there is to be a life lost at the finding of this money.
