  1. This old man whom I knew personally died about the year 1898 and was almost 110 years of age at the time of his death and is well remembered by some of the people in the district still.
    When he was well over the hundred years mark I used to see him nearly, every day on his way to the bog, carrying a very small "creel" (which some of the neighbours had made for him) and in which he brought home turf of a very light kind called in this locality "fum" (?) turf.
