Patrick Maguire was born in the townland of Dernacloy in October 1837 in the Parish of Clones, in the county of Fermanagh and was therefore about 10 years of age in 1847 and remembered quite distinctly the condition of this locality during this distressing period and I often heard him relate his experiences of this time.
