When anyone wished to partake of a sweating exercise, a large fire was lighted in this house and the door closed. When perfectly heated, it was cleaned out, and those requiring sweating entered, and closed the door with rushes: someone remaining outside to give a drink - which consisted of whey - to the inmates.
When an hour or so was spent in perspiration the patients hurriedly returned to their homes and went to bed.
