  1. In olden times the people of my district were very poor and therefore could not afford to buy some of the skillful games that the people of the present generation entertain their leizure hours with.
    However they did their uttermost to have some sort of amusement for the long dreary Winter evenings. One of the boys' favourite games was the firing of darts with a bow and arrow.
    This gun-like article was made from a strong boultry rod. This rod was pared at first and then the soft plumpy heart was bored and cleaned out by means of an auger.
