    Method of catching birds in my district during the snowy weather.
    In former times mostly every person had means of catching birds but nowadays this custom is almost extinct save by means of the tiny bird cradle or basket.
    When preparing to make one of these quaint little cradles, four light sally rods are procured and left to season for a month or so before hand.
    Then the four well seasoned rods are taken one on turn and bent into equal parts without breaking them.
