    first three of April are called the borrowing days in which March borrows from April to skin the old cow.
    On May day you should never borrow or lend, you should not throw out ashes, or water in case of fairies. You can take milk from other people's cows on that morning by trailing a tether over their field of grass
    The people who believed in witches did not light their fire until they could see the smoke of other people's fires. Some people would go to the well first to have luck.
    There is a saying in this district about Candlemas Day which is on the 2nd February;
    "Candlemas Day bright and fair there will be two winters in one year."
