    16. At the base of the neighbouring hill,Killatin,human remains and gold measures were dug up some years ago.
    17. In Killycarnan,on the opposite side,there is also said to be an ancient graveyard.
    18. About 100 years ago,the fort was part of a small holding,seven families then lived where 3 dwell now.Woodrite of Gola took possession of their lands,and after evicting the tenants made this property part of his estate.It has come back to the people in late years.
    19. The land around it was once a swamp.
