Oat cake is made by mixing water or new milk and kneading until it is form. Is is then put in the oven and baked. In old times it was baked before the fire on a grid iron a fixture made for the purpose of baking it.
- Shirts are still made in the home and in many houses there are spinning wheels. Tailors do not always work at home. It is mostly women that make shirts.
- There (are) were a lot of sayings long ago. Some of them were, An excuse is nearer to a woman than her own apron. A poor man has always a big family. An empty stomach is a heavy load.
