   In country districts when some one died every neighbour for miles around visited the deceased to offer their sympathies to the relations.
   They often stayed the night passing the time telling old time stories.
   Strangest of all was "the keiners" (caoiner) These were old women who came and kept up a crying all night. After two nights wake the funeral took place.
   They carried the coffin on their shoulders to the nearest graveyard.
