  1. Michael Byrne of Greaghnafarna Dromahair was always given to complaining. One night when coming home from cardplaying there was placed before him on the road a table and a pack of cards. Three black men were standing at one side of the table and they asked him to play with them but he refused them and ran home.
    The next night he went to the same house and went cardplaying, and when he was coming home he met the three men, the table, cards and an open knife.
    They asked him to play three games with them, and that if he won the knife he could keep it.
    He went playing with them; the first game the black man won it and at the second a card fell from Michael Byrne and when lifting it he saw a cow's foot. He thought it was the devil he was cardplaying with, and he ran for his own house.
