    An old custom is to kill a fowl and sprinkle its blood on the threshold in honour of St Martin.
    Nine nights and a night for talking
    From Hallow Eve night
    To the night of Martin.
    Whit Sunday.
    It is an old custom not to bathe during that time or you would get drowned.
    Hallowe'en
    It is an old custom to throw cabbage at every door. The children buy nuts for that night. They throw some of them into the fire to hear a crack. It is said that the fairies are out on that night, and they destroy the blackberries so that they are
