    May Day.
    You should not throw out ashes or give away money on that day. There was a woman one time who did not like to throw out the ashes. She put the ashes in a bucket under the bed. There was a dead corpse in the bed. Some lighted coals were mixed through the ashes, and the bed clothes took fire, and it was not long until the roof took ablaze. The neighbours came and quenched it so that there was a ghost in that house forever.
    St. Bridget's Day.
    It is an old custom on St Bridget's Eve to leave the door unlocked, and to leave the fire lighted so that St Bridget's women may come in and
