night the chains of their wagons were threw into Cloone lake When the French got up in the morning the made hay ropes and pulled the wagons as far as Keeldra lake. When they got that far they threw the wagons into the lake and they are supposed to be there unto the present day. The French however proceeded to Ballinamuck where a historic battle was fought and the French were defeated under great disadvantages. They were badly armed and to add to their difficultues the chains of their wagons were stolen during their stay in Cloone.
