  1. The local fairs are held in all the neighbouring towns and villages. A buyer named Mr Macan always travels round this district and goes to all the farmers houses and buys cattle sheep and other animals. It is done to the present day. The cattle and sheep fair is held in the fair green and the horse fairs is held on the road. Toll is always paid to the buyer. Different prices are paid, sometimes a shilling and sometimes two shillings. When an animal is sold the men show an agreement by striking of hands. When animals are sold they are marked to show they are sold. The principal fairs in this district are held on 17th October, 23rd December and 17th March.
