  1. Bread was made from wheatenmeal, and oatenmeal, long ago. Flour was not made locally. The kinds of bread made in olden times were Potato - cake, pot-cake, Boxty bread, and oaten cake.
    To make potato - cake, boiled potatoes were pounded up finely until no lumps were left in them. Then salt and flour are kneaded up and it is made into a flat cake then.
