  1. There was a very strong man named James Clancy, Carrickcreevagh, Glenfarne, Co Leitrim. who could carry any weight up to five cwt [112 lbs] on his back.
    Some years ago when Sir Loftus Tottengam resided at Glenfarne hall this man was employed as a workman on the estate. There was a green house in the course of erection. There was a crate of glass taken in by cart from the Railway Station and the road leading to where the green house was being erected was unfit for horse traffic.The land steward was puzzled to know how they would get the glass brought to where it was wanted. The car man told the steward that he would get a man to carry it for him. The steward laughed at such an idea of getting a man to carry such a weight. A bet was put down between them and the car man went to where James Clancy was working and told him what he wanted. James Clancy returned with the car nam. They put the crate of glass on his back and he walked off with it until he landed where
