  1. About the year 1884 a family by the name of Duffy lived in this townland (Buckode) in the parish of Kinlough and the Co. of Leitrim. They were very poor and unable to pay the rent. Consequently they were thrown out on the road side. The local branch of the Land League took up their case and built a hut for them inside the ditch of the road about a quarter of a mile from the school on the Kinlough-Garrison road.
