  1. Hurling and Football Matches
    Hurling and Football matches are not at all the same nowadays as they were fifty or sixty years ago. Three or four of the old Aughrim team are still living.
    At that time, the team would have to walk ten or fifteen miles to the town, or village, where the match was going to be played. They would kick the ball across the country, and in that way they would not feel walking the long distance.
