    Once upon a time there lived in Glengad, a man named Henry McLaughlin. This man was supposed to have an evil eye, and he could blink certain things.

    said that the cow was blinked, and that each man would have to bless the cow before leaving the byre. Each man blessed the cow in turn, but still the cow did not rise. Then it came to Henry's turn, and no sooner did he bless the cow, than she jumped to her feet as well as ever.
