- From the sixth of January till Shrove Tuesday is the time of most weddings. The month of May is unlucky and Friday is an unlucky day. The bride borrows something that was worn before for luck. The people throw rice on the married couple. Long ago the woman got cows or cattle as a fortune or sometimes land or money. The people always walked to the chapel and when they returned to the brides house they had a feast of beef and fish.
