    Time there were people named Keenan’s who lived in the house now almost in ruins between my house and Mr. John Gavigan’s house. These people had a large house full of potatoes. The potatoes began to decay and in a few weeks they all had melted away into water which ran out under the door of the potato house. The disease of cholera also broke out in the district and a hospital was opened at Ballyshannon beside where the Donegal railway Station now stands. The land where the hospital was is at present owned, I think, by Mr. Michael O’Brien, Washpool, Ballyshannon. Large numbers left the land and went to America.
