  2. Mrs. Alexander Anderson, Tubber, Cavangarden, makes her own soap. She buys fat from the butcher. This fat has to be nearly rotten. She renders the fat. She also puts caustic soda in it when she is boiling it. About two stones of fat and one pound of caustic soda make about 20 or 30 lbs. of soap.
