  1. Once there lived in Modeligo a woman and her daughter whose name was Nellie. When Nellie died one of the neighbours said that she saw her one night without any boots. When the mother heard that she went to town and bought a pair of boots. Then she gave them to a neighbour to wear. The next time her daughter was seen she wore boots. Then a priest remonstrated with the woman. Then she told him that if he looked over his shoulder he would see the Sluagh.
