I hold a PhD in English with an emphasis in Folklore and Poetry, and also have an MA in Irish Studies from Boston College, an MFA in Poetry from San Diego State University, and a Certificate in Translation Studies. I have also studied at NUI Galway and Queens University Belfast, and recently returned from a Fulbright in Galway where I was doing research for a project that examines Lady Gregory's use of folklore, in addition to looking at early folklore collecting in the West of Ireland. In general, my research focuses on folklore, creative writing, material culture, expressive culture, and the ways in which they overlap, with a particular interest in maritime lore and the folklore of women.
