My favourite stories are about the Good People and the various ways people are warned against messing with them. I also like anomalous animals (like the water horses) - in fact, anything a bit strange which relates to a particular place in the landscape. I've long been interested in folklore of prehistoric monuments and raths (and have added some stories from here to the Modern Antiquarian website). I think it's excellent that this resource has been made freely available on the internet. Deciphering the more spidery handwriting is very satisfying! but I do regret having no knowledge of the Irish language.
