    The days from the 1st to the 12th April were called "Laethanta na Riaibhche in (Ballyhar parish Co. Kerry). This period was a trying one on old cows because they were "run down" as a result of the severity of the winter and the early spring.
    Rabharta na h-Inide was the name given to a break in the weather which occurred towards the end of Shrove. It was a spell of rainy and windy weather combined.
    Rabharta na Cásga was the name given to a similar spell which occurred towards the end of Lent.

    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crossness,
    Saturday no luck at all,
    Laethe na bō Riabha [?]: There was once a speckled cow she was very old. She lived all right until March came and she got weak. She thought if she got March over her she would live a long time. When March was over except two days she thought she would live. Then the two days came wet and rough but she lived. March borrowed a day from April and that came rough and wet that the old cow died.
    When people have a cure for the ring-worm [?] they use it on Monday or Thursday.
