Biddy Early used to go to the fair of the Mills and she used to cure any horse or cow. She had some good cures for them. One day when Biddy Early was a young girl she was asked to mind the house for her next door neighbour. There was a young baby in the house. When the people of the house were gone the child rose up and said to Biddy Early not to tell anyone what she would do to day. The child was a fairy and she jumped out of the craddle and she went up on the loft and got a bottle and gave it to Biddy Early. The baby told her she could do magic things with the bottle and that there was a cure for (and) any disease in the (the) bottle. Their was a fiddle in the house also and the child got it and played the sweetest music she ever heard. It is said that that is how Biddy Early got her charms and that they were all in the bottle.

Long ago there was a heifier gone from Mike Glynn's father. He was searching for her in every place till at last he was tired searching. "I will never get her" he said. About a week after he was talking to Biddy Early about the heifier. The heifier was gone three weeks now. Biddy Early said to Mike Glynn father "Get up early on Sunday morning and stand outside your door and look southwards. The first field you'll see with a flock of cattle grazing in it, your heifier will be there." The first field he saw with a flock of cattle grazing in it was abroad in Clare. But he went to Clare and got his heifier where Biddy Early told him. He brought her home and she died that same year.

If Biddy Early came into a house and the people churning she would take the butter from them. One time there was an old woman out in Clare. She had the finest "bawn" of cows you could lay eyes on and during one week not a bit of butter would come in the churn if she was churning till morning. Nothing but froth and an awful smell out of it. There was a calf after dying on the woman's neighbour. Biddy Early had the dead calf dug up and buried in the woman's land. While the dead calf was in the land she couldn't get any bit of the butter. She told the priest about Biddy Early and he hunted her out of the place. From that time Biddy Early lived near Feakle and before that she lived near Lough Grainne.

In the village of Ballyskea there is a field and it is called Pairce on Asal the why it is called Pairce an asal is because long ago there used to be a lot of thistles growing in the field and there used to be a black ass let in to eat them. There is another field called Biddy Early's field because long ago there was an old woman living in a house in that field and she used to be up very early in the morning and she used to go to bed very early in the evening and the people called her Biddy Early.

About sixty years ago Magners of Shanballymore Mallow Co Cork were not able to make any butter. So some one said to Rob Magner to go to Biddy Early who was living in Co Clare. So one night he started off in horseback. He made inquiries along the road and early in the morning he came to Biddy Early's cabin.
