    stone at the north side of the school, it is about seven feet high and three or four feet broad. Nobody knows where it came from but some people say that it was a giant that put it there. Long ago there was a giant (walking) in Clare Island when he saw a giant walking the road which now runs by the school, he took up what he thought was a small stone and threw it at him. The stone stuck there
