Ar an leathanach seo
- The old people placed a large bush, on which were hung plenty of May flowers (primroses) in front of the kitchen door and believed that this would bring them good luck during the coming year.
On this day many people cut tiny pieces of the rowan tree and small pieces of the wax candle blessed on candlemass day and rolled them in red flannel, and tied them on cows tails . This was supposed to ward off bad luck to the cattle, sickness and to prevent persons from taking milk and butter. The custom of tying these articles on the cows prevails in Lavey to this day.
People also put the rowan branch and blessed candle over the byre door.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
