In this district which is inhabited, I may say, entirely by '' Gaelic Stock'', the farmers '' kailey '' - (make a visit of 4 or 5 hours) from house to house, particularly in winter,
and the subjects discussed cover a wide field, and include weather, politics, farming, Govt. Depts, ghosts, fairies, carriages without horses, horses without heads, strange lights, bean Sí, hidden treasure, strange happenings, life in olden times, foreign countries, penal law, landlords etc etc. The young people listen, and remember the talks, but sometimes forget who told the story. Almost every '' kaileyer '' is a talker.
