    There is a legend told of a Crock of Gold hidden in a gap in Ballygobbin, by a band of men who were supposed to have stolen it. It is told that when they had the Gold buried, the leader asked them which of them would guard it. The(y) man who said he would. (He) was killed and buried beside it to guard it.
    It was said that a life must be taken, to find the Gold. One night a man dreamed that he would find the Gold, on condition that there was not a word spoken while they were digging for it. He started one moon-light night with another man to dig for it. They had not dig long when they put the spades down on the Crock. "Begor Tom" says he "we have it", and they had only the word
