there on the 16th October every year. When a person is going to the fair he often meets a buyer on the road and they sell the cattle there and then. When an animal is sold luckmoney is given. When an animal is sold the buyers mark the beast by putting a scissors cut on the animal's ear or by clipping a bit of hair off the side, or by raddling them on the back. There is a fair held in Trim every Saturday. There is no horse fair held in Athboy, but the sheep are sold and bonhams are sold in the local fair.
