- Long ago people used to cut turf bare-footed. When they came home in the evening the bog water and puddle were dried to their feet. The woman of the house had water boiled for them to wash their feet in. When they had them washed they would put on the clogs. This water was mixed with the milk for the calves if they were not healthy.
