  1. Most country people cut and save turf in Summer and store it in for the cold winter because turf is their general fuel. Much trouble is got from turf in the district because of the long distance it is from us. My father bought two acres of bog from Michael Maloney Dromade, Knocknagoshel Co. Kerry at the rate of £20 an acre.
    Stripping
    The day before hand a man goes to the bog and strips the skin from the bank with a spade so that when the "meitholl" comes next day they will have no delay but start cutting.
