  1. Local Marriage Customs
    Shrove - time is the usual time for people to get married. Many people like to get married on Shrove - Tuesday, as it is the last day. Match-making was very common about a hundred year ago. A certain person introduced a match, and the match was made, before the girl or man, that were going to get married knew each other. Then the girl or man that was going into the farm, had to bring a dowry or fortune, which meant cattle or sheep and in most places money
