    In later years a son of William Yielding, the then landlord, forbade the people to keep dogs, lest they should interfere with the game in the locality. One day he visited Knockfinisk and found a dog with the McCarthys, who then held the farm now occupied by John Moore. "He got into a terrible temper", and with a piece of rope, he hanged the dog off his shoulder.
