    Hayes forge. There is only one hob in the two forges. The bellows are made of leather and worked by one piece of timber tied on to one side of the bellows. The piece of timer is worked up and down and the mouth stuck in near the fire. There is no bellows made around this place now. The things the smith uses are a sledge, a hammer, an anvil, a barrel of water. They shoe horses and donkeys but they do not shoe cows or bullocks. They make a lot of farm implements such as ploughs, picks, spades, shovels. Some people carry old blades of scythes to the smith to make a hay-knife or
