  1. In Middlemount many years ago there was hidden a large amount of money. Some years ago men, supposed to have been from Thurles, came about midnight to a certain spot in Middlemount. They had dreamt three nights that gold was to be found there. Digging for a time they struck a square flag. With excitement one of the men shouted "We have it." At that moment they heard a great noise resembling the rattle of chains. Looking up, they saw a horse galloping towards them with great speed. Without losing much time, these men got into their car and left the spot. Nothing was ever heard of these men after.
