  1. Granstown castle is situated in the townland of Granstown. It is a round castle and was one of the many castles of the Fitzpatricks, Chiefs of Upper Ossory. It is twenty feet in diameter at the base and the walls are ten feet thick. It has five storeys and a spiral stairway. There were fireplaces in the four upper apartments but none in the lowest one.
